The main goal of FDLRS/Gateway Parent Services is to promote partnerships between schools and parents. FDLRS/Gateway does this by: ¯ assisting schools and districts in developing family friendly programs, ¯ ensuring that families have access to exceptional student education training, and ¯ providing information to families and professionals about local resources and family support groups. These are some of the ways that FDLRS can help parents: ¯ Individual Assistance — By phone or in person, we can provide information about ESE (Exceptional Student Education) programs and services, provide guidance on educational planning, and assist families in finding community resources. ¯ Parent Training and Informational Workshops ¯ Provide Opportunities for Parent Involvement ¯ Parent Path — A newsletter for parents of children served through Exceptional Student Education, is published three times yearly and contains information on disability issues, upcoming events, and resources for families and students.
